2009 Delco Bass Club Results

April 5th - Northeast River, Anchor Marine

A long awaited start to the 2009 season brought tough conditions and tough bites for the field of 10 anglers. The tough conditions did not keep 2 anglers from catching club record fish.

Bill Allison caught a 7.23lb bass with 15 minutes remaining in the Tx to take the win and the new club record bass. Using only a 1/4oz rattle trap he got this fish to the boat and to the dock on time to take 1st place and lunker honors.

Coming in 2nd place and on any other day would have taken the club lunker record was Dave  Shellenberger. This 6.18lb pig was caught off a jig during the early part of the morning along with many short fish. Great job guys!!!

April 25 - Gunpowder River , Dundee Launch

Our 2nd tournament of the year brought high air and water temps but a low fish count. With water temps in some areas as high as 70 degrees(25 degree water temp change in 10 days), the fish seemed to be in shock or at least a negitive feeding mood based on the overall angler response.

Winning the Tx and lunker honors was Sean Geerlof with 1 spinnerbait fish from the Seneca Creek out of the grass weighing 2.61lbs.

Coming in 2nd place was Lou Croce  with 1 fish as well. His fish went 2.40lbs that came from the Elk river.

Coming into this tornament Sean geerlof was just behind Stan Horne in the lead for angler of the year but a good day on Broad Creek changed all of that.

The day started out slow for Sean with 1 keeper in the livewell at 12:30. The next hour turned that around quickly landing 5 keepers in the boat including a 4.06lb largemouth that ended up as lunker for the day. A total weight of 8.45lbs was enough for his 2nd win in a row and a seat on top the the AOY race.

Lou Croce's 4 fish was enough to land him in 2nd place and a move from 5th to 3rd in the race for AOY. Louie's 4 fish weighing 5.84 lbs were caught while fishing for spawning fish in Broad Creek.

Saturday - June 20th - Northeast River, Anchor Marine

A small field does not translate to small bags. With only 3 boats and 4 anglers fishing our 4th tournament of the season, the anglers brought in the most combined weight of the season.

The day started out nice but then the skys opened up on all anglers on the Upper Bay. This did not stop Sean from a season best bag of fish, and lunker to go along with his 3rd win in a row. His bag weighing 13.9lbs including the days lunker weighing 3.55lbs was enough to put him over the top.

Lou Croce's 4 fish was enough to land him in 2nd place. Louie's 4 fish weighing a respectable 11.91 lbs keeps him at shooting distance of AOY.

The only one of 7 guys who was able to put together a good bag was Lou Croce. His bag weighing 11.20lbs which included the days lunker of 3.74lbs was plenty to beat the rest of the field on this day.

In second place was Louie's rider Joe Morganto who weighed in 1 fish for  1.04lbs.

Saturday - October 3rd - Nanticoke River, Seaford Town Ramp

The AOY race just got tight after the fish were weighed on the Nanticoke River.

When the day thought to be a bust just 24 hrs earlier(based on weather), Lou Croce turned it into a lead in the AOY race. Late in the day Louie landed his limit fish and gave him enough to pass the leader of the AOY race Sean Geerlof.

Louies 5 fish limit weighing 6.47lbs included the tournament lunker weighing 1.78lbs and his second win this season.

In second place was Sean Geerlof with his bag of 4 fish weighing 4.11lbs.

Sunday - October 18th - Northeast River, Anchor Marine

Lou Croce adds some distance on the rest of the field in the race for AOY after posted his 3rd win this season.

After moving rescheduling the October 18th North East Tx to this day due to weather. We got some pretty impressive weather anyway. Dealing with 40 mph winds blowing up the bay producing 4 footers rolling up the North East River may anglers took shelter in the no wake zone and many cuts located around the launch area. The tough conditions were well worth it for one angler who bags a season heavyweight bag and a win.

Lou Croce's limit weighing 14.6lbs was plenty to over come the closest angler. He also puts even more distance between the rest of the field looking for the AOY title for 2009

In second place Kevin Tussy weighing in a good bag of 4 fish weighing 9.53lbs

Lunker honors go to Ted Natale weighing in a days best 3.93lb Largemouth

Saturday - October 31st  and November 1st- Northeast River, Anchor Marine

Another windy and rainy tournament hits the Delco anglers.

In only his second tournament with the Delco Bass Club, Ed Thayer wins top honors.

After weighing a limit of bass on day one including the day 1 lunker, Ed found himself in third place with a weight of 10.66lbs. Leading day 1 was Louie Croce weighing 11.86lbs of largemouth and in second was Stan Horne who's limit weighed 10.85lbs.

Day 2 started out wet but less windy in North East, MD but the fight for Classic Champ was fierce. Stan Horne weighs in a bag of 10.28lbs for a total of 21.13lbs and claims 3rd place. Stan also takes lunker honors for day 2 weighing a 3.04lb largemouth. Lou Croce weighs in with 9.91lbs and just passes Stan with a total weight of  21.77lbs to take 2nd place. With Louies 2nd place finish he locks up 1st place in the battle for AOY.

Even after having engine problems in the morning Ed Thayer comes in and weighs the largest bag of the tournament. His bag of 12.18lbs and a total weight of 22.84lbs gave him just enough to put him over the top of 2009's AOY Lou Croce to win the 2009 Classic.
